Turkey Day

We had a great thanksgiving today. While we really missed our family in Utah and Arizona, we had a wonderful time spending the holiday with our "dental family" here in San Fran. We feel so blessed to have a wonderful support system both near and far :) Hope everyone had a great day!

Thankful

With Thanksgiving just a few hours away, I thought I'd take the time to jot down a few of the things I am grateful for. I'm so grateful for the many blessings I enjoy each day. Here are just a few...

I am grateful for a wonderful family who continually loves and supports me. For parents that have taught me right from wrong and continue to lead by example. For siblings that are some of my best friends. And for the world's best husband who works unbelievably hard in all aspects of his life and manages to make me smile and laugh along the way.

I am grateful for the opportunity to live in the great city of San Francisco. City life has treated us well so far and I feel truly blessed to have this unique experience.

I am grateful for a healthy body that allows me to do pretty much anything I set my mind to. Working in the healthcare field has made me especially grateful for my good health.

I am grateful for loyal friends, both the new and the old. Life is good when I'm surrounded by such supportive and fun loving friends.

I am grateful for this free country I live in. While so many complain about the disappointments of our government, I think we're pretty lucky to live here. We get to have a voice and an opinion and enjoy all the blessings of a free world. Compared to the rest of the world, we're all in the 1%.

I am grateful for the new job opportunity I have been offered. I am officially an employed nurse at a long term care facility. I'm excited about everything I will learn in this position, and feel so so blessed for the opportunity, especially in the horrific new nurse job market here in SF.

Most importantly, I am grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and His church that I am lucky enough to belong to. I'm grateful for the knowledge that I have of His atonement. I'm grateful for the comfort and guidance I receive on a daily basis from my Father in Heaven.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Date night

We ventured down to the Castro this weekend for date night. Luckily it was cold and rainy so we didn't see any nudes out on the street. (This liberal city allows nudity in public places when you are in the Castro neighborhood). We heard great things about the sandwiches at Ike's as well as the unique ice cream flavored as bi-rite. If you ask me, both did not disappoint. Gotta love double date night with the Ringers! :)

I'm all grown up

Last weekend I was in charge of putting on an activity after stake temple day. Since when am I even old enough to do such a thing? I have a stake calling as a member of the stake activities committee. Didn't even know such a calling exists. Well, it does. And after everyone else in the committee, including the committee chairs, bailed two days before the event, it was up to me to put on the event. 150 mouths to feed, and 2 days to plan, buy, prepare and serve. So after a little panicking and a frazzled phone call to my mom, I recruited the lovely Jillian Ringer to help me. AND we got lucky and 2 people from the committee were able to show up to help. In a short day and a half we had everything ready to go. Surprisingly, everything went perfectly as planned. We had a great turn out and we had nearly the perfect amount of food. Not bad for my first go around. It was nothing fancy, but I was happy with how it turned out. I can only hope it didn't go too well... don't want to be stuck doing this forever :)

The family came to town

One of the many perks of living in a sweet city like San Fran is the many many visitors that come to see us. We love having visitors and hope that the visitors keep on coming. Something tells me that we wouldn't be quite as popular if we ended up in Buffalo, NY so I'm just going to soak all of this in while I live in this wonderful place. Anyways, this time it was Jordan's parents and sister Maren that came to town. We had such a blast! We did lots of shopping, eating out, sightseeing, and more shopping. Despite all of Jordan's studying and school work, he was still able to spend some time with us. Its always so fun to show family our fun little life here. I just wish they could have stayed longer!

Thanks for everything Doug, Cathi and Maren. We look forward to the next visit! :)
