Our Visitors

My friends came to visit last week. It was a GREAT few days. I loved, loved, loved having them here with me. And I was sad to see them go. So basically, they should come back. I know you are reading this girls... come back! And the rest of you should come too. My tiny little apartment was certainly nothing fabulous, but we managed. Wish I would have taken a picture of the sleeping arangements... basically the whole living room was a big bed. I had a full day of clients lined up for Katie to do hair. I think everyone thought she was heaven sent. Nobody can find a stylist to do their hair for near the price that Katie does it for. Plus, she's awesome. So now half my ward has fresh, lovely hair. And I've already got a few added clients for next time :) Thanks again Kate, you are the best. Here are a few pics from the weekend...

The Beehive State

We were lucky enough to spend a solid 7 days in the great state of Utah last week. We had so much fun spending time with family and friends. Activities included:
  • Eating at all of Utah's best (Cafe Rio, Hires, J dawgs, Hapa Grill, Barbacoa, Mountain West Burrito, Kneaders)

  • Watching movies... If you haven't seen the movie Warrior, do it. It's awesome
  • Cheering the Coug's on to victory over the Aggie's
  • A trip to Richfield... The Dairy included
  • Lunch with the Girls
  • Being woken up by my Lyla girl while sleeping in the Luekenga's living room
  • Playing with baby Elle... She is getting too big!
  • A little Nordstrom Rack run... Aren't these adorable? Thanks to the world's best mother in law, these are now in my closet :)
  • Enjoying the unusually warm fall weather
  • And most importantly, spending a lot of time with the family and friends that we miss so much
Wish I would have taken more pictures... I really need to be better about that. One day. Thanks everyone for making our trip such a success. I never knew how much I loved Utah until I left. It was good to be back for a bit. Luckily, we were welcomed home by Katie, Kristin, and Court... more on that adventure to come. :)

Last Weekend with Mom

Last weekend was a blast. We did so much in such a small time frame and I LOVED having my mom here to explore the city. We took quite a few pictures, so here ya go... Ashbash, these are for you :)

In front of the gate to our apartment

Ghirardelli chocolate banana sundae... Yum

Lombard Street... the windy one

Tacos from our most favorite dive Mexican restaurant, Ocean Taqueria

Oakland Temple

Mama's cafe for breakfast. If you are ever in San Francisco, you NEED to eat breakfast at Mama's... No matter how long the line, it is always worth the wait.

On the bridge with our sweet electric bikes. Amy was mortified that we rented electric bikes... I didn't complain.

Sausalito

And of course Nike town at Union Square in honor of my dad. As he would say, "Part of the celestial kingdom"... His words not mine

Thanks so much for everything mom. You are the best! We already miss you.

Obsessed

My latest obsession? Friday Night Lights. I know I'm a little late on this band wagon considering the series first aired in 2006, but better late than never. I just love the relationship between the coach and his wife, Matt and Landry, Tim and Lyla, etc, etc... Not to mention, I wish I was Lyla Garrity. Anyway, thank you netflix for this latest obsession. I'm not sure what I'm going to do in a few days when Tim Riggins isn't in my life :)

Momma's Coming to Town

This lovely lady is coming to town tomorrow. I can hardly wait :)

What's on the docket for this fun filled weekend you ask? Biking across the golden gate bridge, Oakland temple, alcatraz, shopping at Union Square, eating out, and anything else we happen to think up. Being excited is an understatement. Can't wait to see you momma!

Thoughts about San Fran

Thoughts about this crazy city that I now call home:
1. City people like dogs more than children. Everyone has dogs here, and I mean EVERYONE. Its rare to see a child in a store or restaurant, but extremely common to see dogs pretty much everywhere you go. Stores, restaurants, museums, theaters, dressing rooms... I once had a dog stare at me under the door of a dressing room in lululemon. No joke.

2. Speaking of Lululemon, the hubs gave me this adorable jacket for my san francisco living. I'm obsessed. I wear it nearly everyday when I walk to the gym, or just walking around. One thing i've noticed about this city is that TONS of people wear their work out clothes even when they aren't working out. This is great, seeing I will fit right in wearing this beauty :)
3. San Fran is foggy. How come I never knew this? It is strange to watch the fog come in, and I feel bad for all the tourists who come to see the golden gate bridge, but can't see it cause it is too foggy. But let me tell ya, the frequent presence of fog makes the sunny days oh so enjoyable!

4. Parking is tricky here. Because we live on such a commercial/retail street, parking is joke. On Fillmore there is street cleaning 4 times a week AND it is metered parking during business hours, so basically convenient parking is not an option for us. I have already gotten a parking ticket... 55 big ones. Kind of frustrating, especially considering it wasn't my fault. I put 17 minutes worth of change in the meter, was back to my car in 12 minutes and the meter was out and I had a ticket. Lame... You better believe I already sent in my appeal request. Anyway, Luckily, we belong to a wonderful church that lets us park in the building parking lot. Its only about a 10 minute walk up to the church to get the car. I guess people buy parking spots in garages and they go for like $300. That's craziness! Looks like the church parking lot it is. For now at least.

5. Got these beauties from my sweet husband for the 2 year anniversary. I'm in love and I already wear them all the time. That's the other thing about this city, it's pretty much fall weather all year long. Good thing I love my boots. Looks like I'll be getting a lot of wear out of them over the next few years!
6. The people here are warm, kind and welcoming. I have had a wonderful experience with the people I've met so far. I went to the bank the other day and everyone was so so nice. I was actually taken back. And that seems to be the general vibe I get from most people I have come in contact with. Plus, we have a fabulous ward with lots of wonderful young couples like us and I have felt extremely welcomed.

It's only been two weeks and I am loving every second. I unfortunately don't get to see my husband that much, due to a very difficult and busy 1st year of dental school, but I recognize that all that hard work is just a necessary evil. I'm still waiting on the CA board of nursing to give me clearance to take the NCLEX, then the hard core job hunt will begin. And in the mean time I fill my time with a little San Francisco exploring, a little studying, and a lot of down time :)

The Move

Its official, I'm the world's worst blogger. This time I can blame it on being really busy. I just finished my last semester of Nursing school and we made the move to San Francisco. Jordan has been in school for a few weeks now and is loving it. There are a lot of long days of studying, but so far so good. We were apart for a few weeks so I am very glad to be living with my hubby again. Some say that "home is where the heart is"... That may be true, but in my opinion, a more accurate statement would be "home is where the husband is". After 2 short days, this crazy city is already starting to feel like home. Here are a few pics from the first weekend of our new adventure :)
